We’re excited to be supporting local families this February half term by supplying 60 free food kits, supported by the Mayor’s Fund for London.

We’re pleased to announce that our application to the Mayor’s Fund for London for Take and Make Meal Kits was successful.

Over the February half-term, we’ll receive and distribute 60 meal kits for free to local families.

Each kit will feed a family of 4-5, so that’s approximately 270 meals!

The Take & Make food and recipe kits we supply to families are healthy, culturally inclusive, and use surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

Each box provides nutritional, ‘low cook’, high-quality meals for children and their families.

All the recipes are designed to be made with limited kitchen utensils to ensure cooking at home is as inclusive as possible. With every box containing simple-to-follow recipes.

Providing Take & Make food and recipe kits are part of our wider work to support children and families in Newham and east London to lead happy healthy lives, realise their potential and unlock their ambition.

Our wider food support also includes our Little Manor playscheme and Little Manor Supermarket – our food club which aims to:

  • Increase disposable income for local families to improve life chances and wellbeing.
  • Reduce the amount of food being sent to landfill in the UK by utilising surplus food.
  • Encourage families to access local support services and be signposted to other agencies.
